Ok, I'm a bit late on this reveal, I apologize. I was really hoping I could get both finished. And there's no reason I shouldn't have, they were both relatively easy projects. But I got hung up on the clasp for the Sleek in Silver, and just put it to the side while I worked on other things, and totally forgot until I saw everyone's posts today. So, please forgive. I will post pics of the finished item when it's completely finished.
Here is my Earthly Hues. I chose to use some beadlettes I had in my stash instead of the cubes the pattern called for. I thought that might mean I shouldn't do as many sections, but it still worked out the same. I apparently didn't read the bead list correctly, cause I used size 8's, not size 6's, at the increase. Happy accident, cause that meant I didn't have the issue of thread showing.
My beadlettes were in various shades of grey, shiny and matte. So to give it a bit of a girly edge, I went with a rasberry delica. My jaspers were a tiny bit smaller than the bead list, so I did have some adjustments to the pattern due to that. Overall, quite a quick pattern, and forgiving to make adjustments and variations.
Here is the present state of my Sleek in Silver. I used a wonderful matte bronzey/slate color for the Tila's. And, yes, those are JulsBeads for the dangles instead of briolettes!! And I'm telling you, they make this necklace rock!!
Hi Shirley! Don't apologize for your mods! That's what makes all the versions of these projects so special. It's great to see what this project looks like with different size beads. I have also enjoyed seeing what everyone has used in place of briolettes. Beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteOOOH! How awesome are you!? I've never seen lampwork used like that~ such a great look and the colors you selected are kickin'. Love it, Shirley!
ReplyDeleteShirley, Great job on both necklaces I like your inventiveness and your color choice in both pieces. They are beautiful.

Beautiful pieces, Shirley! I like the lampworked beads in place of the briolettes.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a really fun group to be a part of! I almost wrote "bead" a part of. Freudian typing error. ;)
I knew Juls would love it!!!! I know I do! Both your versions of the necklace are awesome and if anyone reads this far down in the comments they should all know it is my fault as I was supposed to let you know what day the reveal was! My Bad but girl your projects are oh so good!
ReplyDeleteWonderful job on both pieces. I love the beadlettes in Earthly Hues. And I adore the lampworked beads in Sleek in Silver. I love how you made each piece your own.
ReplyDeleteIs the second necklace St. Petersburg weave? I love it! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteThat is REALLY pretty!
ReplyDeletePS, I hope you'll do the next BSBP, grab the new button if you are!
These are both just gorgeous. What are beadlettes? I've never heard of them. Trying to figure out from the picture. They look like elongated cube beads??? Anyway, they're really cool and both of these necklaces are really awesome. Excellent work, Shirley!
ReplyDeleteWow, they are both spectacular and very original. I like the smooth, supple look of the 2nd piece with the small beads dangling from the V (the beads remind me of Dalmatian Jasper). Your imagination and creativity truly rock !
ReplyDeleteShirley, what a great group of ladies - sounds perfect- no stress and lots of fun. Your pieces are absolutely incredible...I'm in awe of the intricate work that you do!!
